Salt/Soda Firing

mmmmm....... Soda

Has anyone ever experimented with adding wood pulp to soda burritos?

I make soda burritos and put them between the bag walls and the burner ports and allow them to become volatile and evaporate throughout the firing process. I was wondering if adding specific types of wood pulp (e.g. pine, elm, or cherry) would be of interest to add to the soda burritos in terms of their influence on surface treatment.

We just mixed soda ash with sawdust and put them on flat wood (open-faced sandwich?). Then used these to side stoke. You can check it out on the blog: http://greenfirekiln.blogspot.com/
Don't know the results yet - kiln is cooling and we open it tomorrow. I'll post some images soon...
