Hi Richard -- I am a newbie to the West Coast - was wood/salt firing on the East Coast (MD/VA area) before moving to LA (Hollywood). I am wondering if I could invite you to be a friend on this site? I love your work and am looking for wood/salt/soda firing friends on the West Coast who I could perhaps assist in firings, and include some of my work in this type of kiln. I'm wondering if you know of anyone looking for someone like that? I'm also interested in grad programs in ceramics, and am a filmmaker currently working on a documentary about a potter in VA. So all around I thought you would be a great person to connect with if you would! Thanks for letting me know.
Howdy. Building the arch and I am having some difficulty locating some #1 arch. Any thoughts? Thanks for your time and help and I should have some new photos posted soon.
Thanks for the response. I am really excited about becoming a part of this group and look forward to the positivity of this web group. I have posted some photos of the kilns progress. I am reading to spring arch and weld. I added the extra soda ports becuase I used David's pictures of his kiln as a visual guided and I noticed he had four extra so I added them. Looks like I may do a combo of Emily Murphy's whiting/soda.wood chip mix and spray in the top ports? Looking forward to the first firing! I will be in touch and thanks again! Zach.
Howdy! I am building a soda kiln with YOUR plans i found on the Cuzick website! I have built the walls and i am ready to build the arch form and spring the arch. I have found these plans most helpful and i am very grateful for your willingness to share. I am going to post photos very soon. Thanks again and I look forward to meeting you.
