hey mark. just wanted to write and say thanks for all you helped me. i thought firing the kiln with you and andrew last september was so awesome. i was already toying with the thought of a wood kiln, but after how great i thought the process was i had to try and figure it out. thanks for the advice you also gave me, it helped a lot. if i knew then what i know now i would certainly change many ways i made my kiln, but it is working great. my last firing was just over 14 hours, which i am thrilled about. and the pots look really, really good. a good cone 11 in the middle, cooler top and bottom but still great. so thanks, hope you and your family are doing well. peace
hey mark. yeah the kiln turned out great. i took some advice from someone whom i will not mention to use plywood as a layer over the cinderblock. which now has completely burned to ash, and the whole thing dropped that inch. so i a going to re do the floor, but clearly can not redo under the arch, but it looks substantial enough. it is taking me a little over 15 hours though, so not bad, just really hard to get the last 150 degrees. until 2000 though fast, could you know go to fast. i have some guesses though. when i figure out how to put pictures on i will. my new website has a few on it, but it is just the beginning of a site. i do appreciate your help on the phone this winter it was a big help. as was seeing etsu's kiln. the pots are coming out nice though. i am still trying to figure out how the newest kiln at blue star fired so fast. i am blown away. peace. hope all is going well
