I am currently in the process of firing the 2 chamber wood/soda/salt kiln at Clayworks 8 weekends in a row. Lately I have been adding 1 package (1lb. 10 oz.) salt and 2.5 lb. soda ash/water slurry in three large stokes with 2 small stokes in between them. I begin introducing salt and soda when the first cone 11 touches in the second chamber of the kiln. I find that this is giving nice red flashing with highlights of beaded soda and a good light coating all around. Work toward the firebox of the chamber gets a heavier coating of soda with beads and rivulets in grey and transparent green. See teapot.
