I would love to go to Japan! Where are you going to go? I am in Manassas Va now and getting ready to setup shop. I can not wait to make some work. It has been great to be back home. Have a nice trip and do as much as you can. Sweet tea bowls!

Thanks, the kiln's coming along. Can't wait to see how she fires!! (I think...gulp!)

I like your work, very earthy and expressive, and enjoy your videos - they're fun!

I am working at the WVU/JCI International Ceramic Studio as the studio tech. We do not have any students here right now, so I am mainly making my own work. I just fired a soda kiln and will get some images on my page soon. I enjoyed some of your teapots also, especially the rocking one. You know Peter Voulkos earlier works. I am working with a local porcelain and a dark, iron rich clay at about a 60-40 mix of the two.

You have some great stuff happening. Love your photography too. Have been to Hawaii...what a paradise! You are so fortunate to be in such an inspiring spot. What size is the kiln you are using? Is it a school or do you have a private kiln?
keep well

Hey Cory, I have been using Loafers Glory, a North Carolina clay, for a while now. I have noticed it will become "washed out" in a soda firing so I tried three other clay bodies as well in the last firing. Two were local Kentucky clays and one had disastrous effects, while the other produced nice orange peel effects and good flashing. The third clay body flashed nicely as well- it is called Aurora. I am going to research other local clays in the next firing.
